From Text Prompts to Real Teaching: Magma Introduces a New Era of AI Maths Tutoring

April 28, 2025

There has been a lot of talk about AI tutors, AI assistants and Bloom’s 2 Sigma problem in edtech in the last few years. This has unfortunately led the industry to adopt UIs that are limited by rigidly text-based input formats instead of optimising for an intuitive learning experience.

Today Magma is changing the game.

When testing different AI feedback systems we found out that just providing written feedback is often not enough for a struggling student. You need to get in there, indicate where the mistake happens, work through the solutions step by step together with the student. Just like a real human tutor would do.

Today we are releasing our latest feature where our AI will point out where the student has made an error in their handwritten solution. This state-of-the art system for interactive feedback will add a new dimension to the use of AI for maths education, giving our students the freedom and incentive of expressing their thoughts just as they would when interacting with their actual teacher.
